The Master's Program in Biology has generated theses in such diverse areas as: revegetation of industrial barrens; ecophysiological studies of higher plants of arctic and industrial habitats; the effects of pollution on lakes; factors controlling the size of populations of small mammals; avian and mammalian physiology and toxicology; biochemical adaptations in invertebrates; insect-plant relationships; rates of bacterial activities in aquatic environments; bacterial exopolymer production. |

The program is designed to stress the commonalties between the various humanities disciplines; in fact, it seeks to inquire into those commonalties, to make them more conscious and articulate. It retains the textual focus of traditional disciplinary humanities study, but, by incorporating a community practicum requirement, extends the definition of text to include both the disciplinary structures themselves and the structure of social organizations in the community. |
